What Is An AED?
An AED, or automated external defibrillator, is a portable device that is
designed to be used in cardiac emergencies.
The AEDs provided by SHOCK Saves Lives programs are state of the art and easy to operate. They are
guided by voice prompts and continue instructions throughout the event of a sudden cardiac arrest (SCA).
Our AEDs are lightweight yet amazingly rugged devices that withstand being dropped or knocked about.
It is powered by a long-lasting battery, and also has an external device that checks its working
mechanisms on a daily basis (see Frequently Asked Questions).
AEDs have been used to save thousands of lives since they were first introduced in
1986. The model provided by SHOCK Saves Lives features state-of-the-art advancements, including
3D Biphasic technology that automatically increases the voltage of electrical SHOCK Saves Livess, similar
to the devices used in hospital emergency rooms and coronary care units.
